Glean

by Nicole Assenza

glean the lover’s limbs
you’ll pull out the feathers of ego
until they shiver
in their naked resignation
you must pierce them now
as they try to tear you
glean the hunter’s word
you'll stalk him through the tangles
see the bones of the ones before
it reeks of many deaths yet
you feel comfortable to lie there
glean the philosophy of blood
you’ll rake lines in the earth, your mind
a suffering of such bliss, such profundity!
if there’s salvation by chance in sacrifice
you’ll be the altar, break the altar
be the altar again

this IS a great poem. but don't get caught up in that poetry.com stuff. it's a scam :(

however, you've got a good community of honest poets here. thanks for sharing your work!
