*** Your Title Here ***
From a far you saw me,
like a firefly softly shimmering
alone in the distance.
I felt your eyes upon me
and frolicked for you in the
quiet of midnight.
The moon saw your desire
and lit the path to
your aching obsession,
while stars twinkled and fell
as if, even they
shared the intoxication of your urgency.
I trembled at your advance
and breathed the night air, now filled
with the sultry warmth of your passion.
I felt your flesh pierce
the safety of my dark cocoon,
and brighter I burned with your nearness.
You heard the wince that once escaped
my lips at your entrance,
so soon replaced with primal echoes
of pleasure, as I clung to
the presence of your eagerness
and allowed you deeper within.
Like a firefly dancing freely
in the darkest night, my wings
fluttered and spread wide, urging
you to consume me fully and together
our souls bled upon each other
until there was nothing more to give.
And though I laid in the respite of
the moment, I knew what was should never have
been, for you were never mine, and I never
yours. And we each know, the firefly you
chose to hold too tightly is what caused
your stain, and I will never be whole.
