Realizations Thanks to Ryan Adams

by Beth K Hannah

A quiet hides under my skin
A never before discovered plane,
That juts and protrudes; makes it hard for others
To meet my eyes.
A silence invades my words-
I keep trying to fill gaps and spaces;
Desperately praying no one can tell.
There is evidence of you in my hair-
It changed; my breath quickened
And I mean nothing under these dim lights...alone.
I am trying to find a resemblance of faith
In the cathedral of my ribcage,
In the places you never wanted to explore.
Again I am sitting alone, never
Truly expecting it.
But you don't seem to care or notice
The void my absence creates.
Or maybe you just evade it; behind
The shutters of your eye lids.
