If the ocean

by Rebecca Lin

If the ocean is my peace
oh, then please take me away!
Out to sea
with just you and me,
or maybe just me.

I'd love to have no boundaries,
but they've all got plans laid out.
Ideas that I'll be something,
beyond any doubt.

I sat outside
and tried to calm down.
I just started asking questions
and there's no reason why...
sitting on a worn-down lawn chair
and wanting to cry.

Yesterday the sunset
killed me,
today the fog
was my shroud.
I swear I'm going to go right now,
leave this depressing crowd.

& when I'm gone,
maybe I'll find the sea...
maybe you'll really miss me.
If I could just disappear
and never come back,
I'd find my peace
in the ocean
with a sunken air sac.

Tightly shut eyelids and the deep breathing that only comes with living.
