in hiding/ transparencies by Lauren Singertoday,
perhaps,
i am nothing but
a vehement lizard
catching flies.
i dreamt of you
in orange, covered with snow.
you promised me things,
and i forgot them.
i woke up with a boy digging my finger-nails
into his sweaty palms,
i looked over at him and he was sleeping.
(he reminded me of you, but i kept my distance.)
i hate it when the world
feels as if it's nothing
but ice cold truth under blanket statements.
takes so much time to thaw.
