Run Forever

by Becca Morton

I went out there the other day…
I just sat there and watched the waves

There were a lot of little kids there.
I watched them play in the water
I watched them dance and run.

There was something similar about all of them
They’re all going to grow up.
Just like we did.

They’re all going to experience the things I do…
Some will experience the things you did

They’ll have their first kiss
They’ll take their first sip
They’ll cry, they’ll laugh
They’ll learn to love and to hate
They’ll all lose someone
Just like I lost you…

But for right now…
Running and dancing seems to be enough
If only those things were always enough…
I would run with you forever.

Tragic....and heartfelt. Very well communicated here. Nice writing.

So unbelievably sad, yet so utterly beautiful.
