dawn chorus by Peter HumphreysThe dawn
was
glistening
cold
frost
in the air
frost
on the strand.
Across the bay,
the moon
cast
radiant light
across
jet black
unrippling
waters.
The cave
was bleak
but calm.
We fell
together
in our
first embrace
fecund
furtive
but
unfearing.
To the south
a cacophony
arose.
She smiled.
I wept.
At last. 01/04/2006 Posted on 01/04/2006 Copyright © 2024 Peter Humphreys
