i dreamt

about you

last night

in shades of gray

you came

to my door

out of the blackness

although i couldn't

see you, i knew

you were there and

when i called

out your name

i could see

my cool breath

as it floated

all around you

creating a

blanket of white

and through its fog

i reached for you

but never

found you and

all the while

my heart was

bleeding red

as i dreamt in

shades of gray
