What Do You Do by Joan SerratelliWhat do you do
when you can't cry
anymore
The tears just won't come
but the sadness remains
What do you do
when life kicks you
in the heart
and just laughs
Is this what
the fates have
intended
A life filled with nothing
but pain
What do you do
when the pain
overwhelms
and takes
everything
What do you do
when the sadness
is all you have
and nothing
can take it
away
If this is my fate
the hand
I've been dealt
I'll play it
for lack of anything
else
There are times
when I think
I'd be better off
If I had never
been born
There's no happiness
anywhere I look
All I can see
is a shell
i used to call
me. 12/31/2005 Author's Note: I wrote this poem when I was feeling bad about myself...as usual.
