Impossibility

by Oliver Drewman

I wish I was a bumble bee
The engineering impossibility
Who shouldn't fly with such small wings
Such a large body could never flingÂ…
Itself into flight
But every day the bee gets up and flies
Anyway
Not knowing it can't fly, that it's impossible
For it to lift -such and such weight of mass,
With so and so many beats of wing per time
Don't tell the bee it's blind to such great knowledge
It might not fly if it knew
Would you?

I wish I was a bumble bee for God
The enigma of impossibility
Whose sinful soul shouldn't fly without wings
Such a large body could never flingÂ…
Itself into belief
But every day I live just to die
Anyway
Not knowing I can't fly and it's impossible
For me to lift my hand to heaven and pray
With unspoken song and grace continually
Don't educate me anymore to such great knowledge
I might not fly on eagle's wings if I knew
Would you?
