[Missing] - for Sarah, Linda and Tammy

by Lisa Marie Brodsky

Sally-girl
Birthday and lost-day on December 10th
New York appearance, Maine disappearance
Did they leave blueberry stains on your fingers
When they took you away?
Talented twins masqueraded on stage as you,
Flipped their corn-blonde hair, batted their
Ocean-blue eyes. An attack at Hackmatack,
How many of them?
Hacks at Hackmatack,
All of them.
Them with no scar,
No spider line.

Running through the fields, toward the light, the red, blinking light,
Dfferent clothes, hair disguised
by them, who are you again?
Did you really have a Daddy Sam on the radio?
Hulky, dark-haired man
with the W.C. Fields voice.

Yell, Sally-girl.
Broadcast your whereabouts
Because Mama’s gonna break
Her heart looking for you
And it’ll be 25 years by the time
We hear of your baby-blonde
Curls and your love of the dramatic,
The Carousel story
And the introduction to Peter Pan.
