the scream

by Peter Humphreys

It is a
grey
bitter
cold
day.
People
shuffle
deep
in
what
coats
they
have.
It is a
day
without
mercy.
Deep within
it is not
the cold
without
that makes
me
wonder
how long
the scream
can be
suppressed?

It is always the cold-within it seems. Internal temperature of the heart. Well penned, Peter. Thanks.
