My hand moves against the grain

by Ava Blu

I could never write how I was taught
never became accustomed to normal structure
I write my name over and over
cursive and not
trying to turn the “j” a certain way
and end the “a” how it’s supposed to
stress the hump on each “n” stroking just a little harder
(never looks like anyone else’s)

always

m
o
v i
n g

never in a straight line

(I’m like that)

(m o v i n g) never on the same path

digress, progress, transgress
all at once
without the proper definitions

I’ll stop
g o

bumpintoanotherword

compass always pointing North

(it isn’t about you/ it isn’t about her)

always bringing it up

I can write it down
not think twice

because I am always mooooooooooooooooooooovvvving

different path tomorrow
I write against today
bumpingintowords
from yesterday.

Author's Note: I post too many words that need revision.

This is so very you. I love it, I think the format really works and your words are as ever perfect.
