The Outhouse is Just Around the Corner by James ZealyIt seems in the fight
To achieve and accomplish
We have forgotten whence we came
When the outhouse was just around the corner
While personal wealth and cars and homes
Are the mind numbing placebos
For an apathetic people
As the outhouse is just around the corner
While we watch with disinterest
Victims of a government gone mad
And assume there will be no consequences
While the door is slowly opening
To the outhouse around the corner
Emotional atrophy subsists
As we just could be less bothered
By our own peoples economic demise
Our head is being shoved force full
Into the outhouse around the corner
Corporate oligarchy reigns supreme
Stuffing our dreams and opportunities
Into meanial nothingness
While our path to the outhouse is paved with our backsides
Yet we sit and complain and then do nothing

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 12/23/05 at 07:11 PM James, this is a powerful, succinct statement about the sad state of affairs in today's world. Unfortunately, there's no going back to the simple days when life felt less threatening.
