Con Usted

by Kim Bennett

Visiones de relámpago chocando detrás de ruinas extraordinario
Bailes de viejos resonando desesperadamente
Cantos de magia, canción de tiempo
Venas de el enterraba ciudad
Escaleras de un año, una vez que rojo.
Ciudad oliendo de flores,
Vientos de sal,
Cultura espesa.
Aprendiendo.
Cambiando.
Entendiendo.
¿Qué más pueden aprender?
¿Dónde irán?
Extraordinario
Inolvidable
Con Usted

Author's Note: This is my only attempt at writing a poem in a different language. I'm not sure I got all of the structures right, I get confused when things go before something else like "ruinas extraordinario". And I'm not sure if "cantos" is the right word for chant. But I wrote this for my spanish teacher when I graduated because we had gone to Mexico together. So if anyone has any suggestions, by all means, tell me. :)

there are a few small grammatical errors, but the imagery you captured is pretty strong considering it's your first foreign write. mexico is a very spiritual place and can take your breath away if you let it. try another...they'll only get better! :)

"Cantos" I believe is "song", like it is in Latin, but it also means "chant" as well. But "With You" is a wonderful piece, and I think it being in spanish adds to it. +fav

At least you gave it a shot. I'm almost tempted to try and dust off my old Spanish lessons to try and understand it (as opposed to the D- version I'm working with now).
