Cubed

by Rhyana Fisher

Cold, shivering
So very cold
Warm flesh transmuted
..angry voices repeatedly chant
....until the spell is permanent

The ice grows, spreads
In its wake stands
An icy statue
..where once stood
....a living human being

Emotions of fire
Die back, smothered
Locked away
..frigid control victorious
....a brittle ice maiden remains

Nothing human left
But for the shape
A sharp blow
..and it shatters
....into a million shards

They melt in the sun
And disappear
Leaving no memory
..of what was
....or might have been
