Fade to White by A.M. Demarco'Tis true, she was drawn back in
before the idea of freedom could take hold
before I could share the subtlties of fighting back.
Protected from one of those free radicals,
rucksack nation patriot.
Still
the (human) powers that be
proved powerless to deny us
our moment.
We played perfectly, joyfully
passed the power between us.
And as I watched her pulled back into the grid,
I became aware of her feet moving away
but her gaze drawing ever closer
curously studying my poise and my direction.
I can only hope she thinks of me
when the electricity finally fails
and she
once again
finds comfort amongst the flames.
