green door once was red by Frankie Sanchezi was tripping over, tongue-tied,
enigmatically attracted to,
and falling
for all the things that made you ordinary,
how cute you could be when you were
equally and awkwardly less aware of yourself,
how sad you were when you were
pretentiously happy,
pretentiously modest,
faking it.
chin up. lips wide.
so good at leading people on.
(insert inevitable consequence)
and i'm only ever changing
when there is a change in need,
i'm required to put myself first and foremost
prior to any prerequisite,
and i'm changing now,
and you're falling further behind
for the first time,
(insert climatic change of pace)
(insert harmonic background vocals)
(insert visual aid of my progression)
how's this for a happy ending:
where my arteries once ran to your heart first,
and filtered all feeling through you,
where you were my vicarious life
and my epitome of self-esteem,
where all things once stayed dormant, fearing change,
i give you a red door painted green.
(insert shift in subtext)
(insert change of heart)
(insert happiness) (unabridged)

Posted by Steven Kenworthy on 12/16/05 at 12:10 AM amazing how a relationship can flat out take over you, and then upon its termination...restructure everything you believe and do. it's like being a wall...being built up on another's faith and confidence, then admired...then torn down out of negativity or some destructive relationship behavior. like a butterfly...you're now someone new. so strong. and by the way, i love the text in parentheses...mission accomplished |
