When Love

by Alison McKenzie

How will you know when I love you?
I may not speak the words,
For words are easy...

But, perhaps
When the sound of my voice captures your feet
To lead them home;
When the touch of my hand
Whispers comfort to your aching soul;
And our union moves you to other planes to dance.

How will you know when I love you?
When my children ask for you to sit at our table
When my name upon your tender lips
Causes my heart to quicken;
When the quivering of my cells
Comes back around to bathe us in splendor.

How will you know when I love you?
Look at your reflection,
Your eyes illuminating the heavens,
Your joy skipping into the cosmos.

Let our auras mingle
And if we are exhilarated,
Perhaps then.

Author's Note: Shallow attempt to capture just one small idea of it. *sigh*

There is nothing shallow about wanting what is right.
