perfectly ironic

by Emily Davidson

it's like we're in some
stupid competition
to see
who's the happier one
now that we're apart

and i've kissed a boy
since you left
and i wish i had taken a picture
so when our anniversary comes
i could show you
just to spite you

we see each other and
the tension
is heavy
in the air;
it's suffocating us

it is perfectly ironic that
you hate me now
for the same reasons you fell in love with me

Emily, "making tea" and "perfectly ironic" are great poems. All of those in your main menu are wonderful. Don't really know how I found your library, just surfing around, reading, hoping and then you. You are a talent. I'm going to put you in my "friends" so I can check in sometimes. Keep it up. -- Bill
