Pampered by Delilah CoynePamper me with Cheez-Its and Coca-Cola.
Tivo my favorite sitcoms while I shower with icky sweet bath gel.
Prepare for me the delicious dinner in a bag, complete with meat.
Paint my fake fingernails with glitter-flecked polish.
Don't keep me waiting for my instant gratification.
Five minutes is a lifetime when CSI is over in two.
Keep those kids quiet! My show is on!

Posted by Rula Shin on 12/07/05 at 06:25 PM "Don't keep me waiting for my instant gratification" - ah yes, the modern day motto! So well expressed in this colorful, spunky, unapologetic little short. As long as we use these instant gratifications as a temprary space to release the pressure of our monotony of daily routine, they can be a positive opening for a little retreat of recovery. So long as the act (even of escape or sleep) is intended and full of purpose, it remains meaningful. A lovely piece you have here :-)
Posted by Mary Ellen Smith on 12/07/05 at 07:14 PM Down to earth, realistic, sounds like it doesn't really take much to make you happy or pampered.
Posted by Susan Q Tomas on 03/23/06 at 03:26 PM Thanks for the reminder to take whatever indulgences you can - when you can. But also, everything in moderation, including instant gratification. If I indulged myself every day, I would be a 300lb wheezing drunk sleeping most of the time (but always wearing really nice shoes). I like your writing style.
