be on the wary by Charlie Morganfriends will fall away
from you because of your
being less pleasant company
than another.
and,
those who are less lucky
than yourself in birth,
health, money, good looks
may tend toward wickedness.
while,
with your supposition
that they are wicked
and have a keen sense
of enjoyment on being so,
and,
your having been warned
from granny's lap
that ogres exist, please,
no need to show surprise.
yet,
i know it's when they change
right before your very eyes
that you consider their flogging
and a diet of bread and water.

| Posted by Steven Kenworthy on 12/11/05 at 08:17 AM humans are definitely flawed and we all know that the greatest indicator of how we'll turn out is what grandma passes down to us. something about her presence in this poem really takes charge. i like the raw honesty...the borderline lecture tone without really pointing any fingers. a social absolute...the good vs. the bad. well done mr. morgan! |
| Posted by Jeffrey Parren on 12/11/05 at 08:31 AM there are definitely those people in this world that I would easily go to prison for committing some sort of illegal action against! i know this feeling all too well. i enjoyed the flow and breaks, kept everything tidy while focusing on that which was important...good work as always chaz ~JPP |
