Listen, do you not hear the whispers on the wind
sounds of distant battles that long reached an end.
Paint a picture, if you will, deep within your mind
of all the many faces of those who we’ve left behind.
Open wide your eyes and read a mighty story.
filled with sacrifice, hero’s and feats of glory.
The story of a nation built by the hands of man,
men who knew, and believed it was all God’s plan.
There are moments that inspire, and make hearts swell,
and others where it seems we were at the gates of hell.
Always there is a counting of the great cost
in lives ended, families broken and dreams lost.
Let your hearts bleed and feel again the pain
so we can ensure they did not sacrifice in vain.
The story has a theme that we see runs throughout.
the joys and great cost of freedom is what it’s about.
Chapter after chapter and page after page
you see how a great nation rose to the world stage.
Inspired by a simple thought that all men should be free
and to God we should give all the praise and glory.
Unlike the story’s of many nations that are left to history
the writing of this one is now left to you and me.
Will we still glorify and praise our God above.
will we still be blessed by the gift of his great love.
It is our turn now to do deeds that will inspire
and to show in freedoms fight we will not tire.
