Skin Deep

by Delilah Coyne

Razor slides across skin.

All clean.
Ready.

Metallic buzz courts my ears.

Skin prickles with anticipation.
Steady.

A thin burn cuts the line.

Sheen of red through black.

A rough, but welcome wipe ... clarity.

Numbness comes, then fades, then comes again.

Nothing like it.
Heady.

A few more lines until it's over.
Almost ready.

A final sigh. A finished work.
Buzzing stops. Gloves pop.
Relax.
Steady.

Mirror reflects what was not there before.

Art in the form of skin deep beauty.

I'll be back next month for more.

I like the buzz.

Yea, it's kind of a good pain. I have three, the feeling is somewhere between, elective surgery and electro-schock therapy. Nice write.
