The Smallest Bones

by Trisha De Gracia

There is silver in your soul and
little birds with wings of folded paper
almost Japonesque, and huge-

That girl is watching you:

The colours are concealed in rivets there,
the sweet and dazzling feathers sifting
through the grit of day into
the breadth of icy night,
the heir of some great platinum Midas
incognizant!
In iron gloves!

From deep within
- your expiration
whirling
           as a dove.

Author's Note: The smallest bones are in the feet and the inner ear. This is everything in between for you.
