Yellow Shirt by Karl Waldbauer
Was it the yellow
On the handsome fellow?
I really couldnt say.
Might have been his bright smile,
Or his darling little child
That made me turn my gaze that day.
A soul touching scene
At the corner Coffee Bean;
Our eyes met, then I was on my way.

| Posted by Leslie Ann Eisenberg on 11/18/05 at 07:03 AM ah, the coffee bean and tea leaf, i can smell it now. i wonder if it's the one next to the former santa-glen market that's now a walgreen's? i love this compact, little moment, where you capture the fleeting feeling of connection with a beautiful sight. this is why poetry exists, to encapsulate these teeny, yet moving moments in a frame..and i also appreciate the leaving of something unsaid for me to ponder -- did he smile back? :)PK |
