empty

by Jessica Yen

she crawls up to bed each night,
singing songs to herself
to cover up her tears,
to silence her screams inside...
oh--she's so empty.

she's searching for something
but doesn't know what.
she's moving along but,
she doesn't know where she's heading.
she's empty inside.

her soul is yearning
for something more,
something beyond her reach,
something intangible,
but anything to fill this emptiness.

once, she thought she knew herself,
but only tricked herself.
now, she's lost and broken
and she needs something
to make her whole again.

she's reaching out to You
but will You answer her call?
will Your body recognize her?
can You save her?
she needs some saving.
