SEVEN DAYS (4) by W. Mahlon PurdinYou say that you're a failure
At everything you do or say.
You say it just gets worse and worse
Every saddening day.
You say you've got to learn
To hide your fright and fear
Everyone can't see your heart's
Thrust through with that awful spear.
If you hide what you're feeling
And act as if you're on a stage
Truth is just a treadmill wheeling
You're imprisoned in a cage,
Then what you do just doesn't matter,
No confidence in pure things true.
You're Alice to the world's Mad Hatter:
Down the deep, dark hole with you.
But if you stand before all to see
And let the chips fly and fall
Truth will ascend from its apogee
Sunshine bursts through the prison wall.
