splittin' hairs with Jesus
by Charlie Morgan
i'm confused.
like in North Dallas Forty when
the linemen call it a game,
the coaches call it a business
and when the same linemen
call it a business,
the coaches call it a game.
in one place You got me
leaving my mom and dad
to follow You;
and in the next place
You got me honoring
that same mama and daddy.
You want both?
and then there's the place
where one guy is given five,
another 3, and still another 1;
and then they're told nothing
but the one who makes more
is embraced by You and
the poor fool who kept[close to him]
You--and buried[for safekeeping]
the very one You gave him[perhaps
out of honor] and now You send
him and others out to where
there'll be gnashing of teeth
and such.
and don't get me started about
how to pray to You; first, You
have me not be ashamed to worship
You in public, then You say that
for proper prayer we should be
inside our own house so
no one could see.
what's all that about?
use either aramic, or english
but some of Your parables
are wearing me mighty thin.
