i feel like i see you
all the time now
like our paths suddenly
have something in common

and maybe it would be more appropriate
to glance quickly and then bolt
but

you know how i can be.
i talk too much.

so i make small talk and i smile and i ask you how you are
and my sentences get longer and lose purpose
because i really just want to remember what it was like
to share everything with you,
to be honest,
i miss having that

and you nod and grunt and
wait for me to shut up
but i can feel that somewhere inside of you
you miss me
