I Know

by Sahar Rahim

I have a wonderful man
He holds me tight
He kisses me hard
He tells me he loves me

And if he said the sun rises in the West
I'd believe him
Because he'd never lie to me
He loves me

He takes the time to hold my hand
Even when there's a million people around
Because he wants me to know
He loves me

Sure there are times when he yells at me
I mean I yell right back
And yes sometimes he tells me he hates me
But I know he's just mad
He loves me

Once in a while he tells me I'm stupid
But it's just cause he knows what's best
He teaches me right from wrong
He...loves me

But then I can't remember the last time
The last time he actually told me
Or the last time he said I was special
I mean...I love him
I know he loves me

The things he says can get pretty horrible
But I normally deserve it
I'm really the problem, I'm sure it's usually me
And he still loves me

So you see even though he says he hates me
I'm stupid
I'm no where near perfect
Well I know
I'm almost positive
I think...

I can't breathe... I got to the end of this and had to literally gulp back the tears. I am paused by the innocence and sadness you've captured. ~N
