Picasso

by Gabrielle L Gervais

I seek to spread those droplets of dew on your cheeks and call it joy
and you would believe me. Callouses are known to enjoy light kisses.
Dust bowls chased us all day and we ended up here,
stranded on a bridge with no beginning or end.
Twilight passed and the rains came. curved wood-
the contours of body against body.
I couldn't see your eyes. Feathers of you sprinkled my hands with seeds of earth
and with your sculpting palms, you touched my lips
and made me.
I never understood birth until this day.
