T-Minus by Angela ThomasCookies for coworkers and smiles for strangers. T-minus
three days and counting until I begin life in the sidelane
of corporate America. I'm worried that I won't be able to keep
up and I might slip down the rabbit hole faster than Alice
could say, "Achoo." I might lose my hat and I might find
myself waking up six months from now with no idea who I am
other than cubicle number two-hundred-sixty-seven. I play
the lottery because I want to win, not because I want to throw
away another dollar on a priceless trinket. I want to work because
it will make me happy, not because I won't need to play the lottery
any more. The CEO at my new job emailed me yesterday, and I
quote, "Are you ready to take over the world?" I replied,
"Someday. But right now, I kinda figured I would get a head
start by taking over the front of the office." 11/03/2005 Posted on 11/04/2005 Copyright © 2024 Angela Thomas
