She Believes in the Power of Alternative Therapies

She lies next to him in bed, breathing in the warm, tangy scent of his skin as he lies sleeping - present, but unreachable.
2. Acupuncture
She ponders the words he speaks to her now, feeling the sting of each carefully placed needle as it pierces her psyche.
3. Massage
He kneads her emotional muscles with cold, hard hands, in the Rolf tradition, moulding her reactions into an acceptable shape.
4. Biofeedback
The mind/body connection is evident - with every withdrawal, every refusal of affection, she withers just a little bit more.
5. Fasting
This forced starvation of her senses, her soul, leaves her hungering for the repast of the past.
6. Meditation
Having only the solace of herself, she runs tentative fingers across her skin, caressing herself into trance.
7.Guided Imagery
Using imagination, the currency of memories, dreams and possibility, she purchases a future with him.
8. Detoxification
She cleanses her mind of all doubt, tells herself to start fresh; wipe the slate clean.
9. Homeopathy
He awakens and turns to her; she tastes his kiss laced with love so dilute as to be imperceptible, and feels a glimmer of hope...
...then realises it's all just a load of bollocks,
gets out of bed, breaks out the vodka, and starts surfing the 'net for a cheap airline ticket to anywhere but here.
Now THAT'S alternative therapy. 10/25/2005 Author's Note: I'm in one of those moods today!
