The Enthralled

by Rebecca Lin

The sky started to burst
golden from the silver atmosphere.
You had no idea what was going on,
but you kept walking.
Your body in a trance,
your sanctuary ahead.
You saw the graves starting
to sink into the earth.

It was Autumn,
although you could've sworn
Winter was just teasing you.
The window was smudged with the fingerprints
from students rushing to see
what was outside.
All they could make out were the windows
across the yard
from the other building-
reminders of their insanity-
just facades.

Now maybe it was my imagination,
but I could've sworn the sky
was turning grey
and the clouds would stop moving
and the grass would no longer
be green.

Then I saw your body
trembling from your own nightmare.
I reached for your hand
and whispered "Wake up."
I noticed your sapphire lips were
whispering the same thing back.

I like this it reminds me of a dream that you can't tell from reality untill you awake. Very nice.
