Before this becomes a clouded deception
I can no longer be the Joe that you knew
Because I want to get something going with you
I'm not the same man, I hope our changes rhyme
It's been a long while, a lotÂ’s happened in the mean time
I've met a lot of girls and a lotta woman too
It'd sure be nice to get something going with you
Women are rarely what they put on for show
And I've been with enough phonies to know
None of them can touch you, not even any two
I'd really love to get something going with you
Most guys want it before you'll give it away
Then they expect you to do what they say
You need not give me anything, my love is free
