ambush by Peter HumphreysDown upon
the darkling
road
the soldiers
of destiny
wait.
Over the
brow
headlight
dim
the victim
came
unthinking
unknown
seeming
safe
on the
bog road
home.
It was
over
in seconds
a slaughter
of innocence
or
the innocents
of slaughter?
One
by
one
we drifted
home
blind
to the stars
above
once more
set forth
with bloodied
hands
upon that
darkling
road.
