[you've] never been religious

by Ava Blu

awake after only 2 hours of sleep,
I crawl onto cold hardwood floors

on knees and hands,
I bend at the will of something else

full of liquor and drugs,
you came to see if I would still be unlocked

I see you prancing around like a deer caught,
waiting to devour me again

I can't reach the door
I can't let you in

still I crawl towards a light underneath your feet;

this disturbing light is mocking me
pretending to be from God

darkness comes forth
seems you've left

foolishly, I reopen
believing there is protection for the weak

lashing towards me
I now bleed.
