Wet dream

by Vikki Owens

I eat
and taste covers my tongue,
envelopes me, the conversation
of food and spit is wild in my mouth,
pizza and pomegranates, wine and rose water
effervescent, I consume
and consume, and never feel the effects,
never full, constantly ecstatic and fevered.
Cream and coco, spaghetti and spanakopita, marmalade,
creme brulee,
everything is dreamy, melting in my mouth,
and I never gain a pound.

...yo, vikki, i love the lay-out and the lovely turn of [our heads] phrase in this one...and after all the edibles, i'm slobbering down my chin...creative and real...peace, chaz
