I am in control of me

by Kimberly Bare

the roof looks inviting
to me

And to I, it appears as a danger.

upon the stairs;
will this trip be the final for me?

I reply, one step at a time.

a jumble of terrors and
whispered precautions
haunt me

Yet I can still smile
because I know
they are
all in me mind.
