Caffeine Fantasy

by John Nivel

The caffeine fog
Came into town
And no one slept
On their pillows of down
T.V. listings were read
With glee
Some found a show
To watch at three
Babies stood up
In their cribs
Ready to put on
Their breakfast bibs
The sun was on
Another side of the Earth
But this town's activity
Had no dearth
So everyone started the next day
Without rest
By week's end
No one looked their best.

Author's Note: This blather is dedicated to the ingredient in coffee that allows me to muddle through this existence, with a halfway decent mood.
