A Verse For Someone

by Corey Drover

The end of one vow lead to the beginning of another
and all it took was a smile and a laugh
Resigned to be merrily alone only to be shown
the error was not as it seemed since it placed
me on this path I have now just begun
Walking no longer solitary but in tandem

Years of bravado and pride and hiding
They may not be so easily forgotten but with
a hand up from you I just may become a better man
Only time and much patience will tell the tale
as I pray for that Disney ending each night

I wish not to get too flowery and pretentious
but let it be known that many men, more creative than I
and less cowardly to express feelings true enough
to warrant eternal respect, have said I love you
but none will have said it with my conviction
You'll never know what it took, even if you think otherwise

Whether you ever read this is unknown but even if
the words themselves never achieve the privelage
of your eyes having glimpsed them you will know
them to be true regardless, for in everything I say
and everything I do they will be silently spoken

A tear has fallen because you're not here at this moment
and I'm sure it will not be the last
Captured as I am it seems only appropriate
And you're right, the rain is not so bad after all
