Against The Tides

by JJ Johnson

Enough with girls who pretend
I want true love and nothing less
More than just a beneficial friend
Who I don't have to second guess

To fill a life with more than fun
Who wants a man to fill hers too
Two for serious one on one
Not a buddy for a weekend screw

I don't want a sexual slave
To follow submissive sets of rules
I'm not a king, it's love that I crave
Not a crown of tarnished jewels

No intruders on the side
Equal partners in all we do
She must hold her own against the tides
And be willing to hold mine too
