untitled

by Becca Morton

I am at a loss for words here
Hoping…wishing…craving…fear
Much too young, with a silent heart
Blinded by her smile… She’s falling apart

He’s her addiction that can’t be fixed
But she doesn't comprehend…
All the while she’s plummeting deeper
Letting go of her strength… Giving it up for him

Her kiss is bitter with remorse
Her eyes are an open tomb
Lie beyond lie paves her course
Carving into her callous wounds

She meant every word she left unsaid
Every ice cold tear was real…
She watches her heart shatter time and again
She doesn’t understand what it means to heal

He’s her addiction that can’t be fixed
But she doesn't comprehend…
All the while she’s plummeting deeper
Letting go of her strength… Giving it up for him
