The Old Woman

by Uriel Tovar

From the hour we wake--
the eyes see
the earth caused to crumble
by rain of honey.

the honey comb,
dragged and chewed up
by dogs--
mixing their sweet lips
with salty sea water.

the waves do not forgive
the innocence of youth.
