the sun king [one]

by Joseff Marat

A cold, February morning
and the winter is strangely fond
a man rants his cryptic verse
as he walks beside the pond

"I walk upon the Earth & Tide"
figured his position; sighed
kicking at the leaves alone
lost without a guide

"Wander stray by shaded glow
then someone took the road away.
Wonder frayed, saw undertow
has reach-ed back to steal dismay"

Contented with the dying woods
he finds a red heart in the snow
and as soon as satisfaction set
found the faded crown below

A kingdom lost and fit with moss
a land unknown to man
from the day he left and lost his past
abandoned in the sand

As he left us to the dirt; we cried
figured our position; sighed
trample on the leaves as one
the wind must be our guide.
