a prelude to these moments

by Lauren Singer

i try to imagine what it would sound like,
if we made music just by living out our lives.
the melody that would be created by how i'd walk,
the way that i express myself.
catchy little tunes caught
as i dance to my personal symphony
in the privacy of my room.

and i wonder what it would be i'd hear
when i saw you walking towards me,
the entrance of the violins or
the bang of a bass drum as my heart
beats faster and my pupils dilate.

and what of making love?
how would we sound then?

and when you let me down
does my melody soften?
does the staccato stop,
do my legattos increase into a slow, sad ritardation?
do the notes become softer as my eyes look down?

and when you make me smile?
how does it sound to hear me smile?

is there a prelude to how you make feel?
i want to hear the notes behind the moments.

Sounds like an apt soundtrack for the moments you describe.
