Fool In The Rain by JJ JohnsonSo now I feel like A fool in the rain
Afraid to move on and try love again
Within my heart is one more regret
In spite of the rain love's shoes never got wet
I fooled myself into believing my scam
Pretending to be more than I am
Now as reality surfaces
The mirror exposes my two faces
I feared what the future had in for me
I fought against it and tried to be free
Trying too hard to achieve sublime love
But the passion we shared wasn't enough
My fate's been decided somewhere up there
I'll die with the love I wanted to share
My destiny and I are merging
Preventing our hearts from ever converging 06/22/1983 Author's Note: A note of interest: The last line of this poem was originally, "To bring on the death of a virgin". I was contemplating ending my life after being dumped by the woman I loved, for another man. I later changed the line, after not doing myself in, but I liked the line and always thought it would make a good line for another poem. Many years later, I used it to write the poem, Death Of A Virgin", which is also in my library here. It has a completely different meaning in the new poem and I will let you read it to find out what that meaning is. JJ
