Butterflies

by JJ Johnson

It was five years ago this week
When I gazed into two beautiful eyes
She was a girl, not yet at her peak
And I was a boy filled with butterflies

And now so much time has passed
As I glance back into those eyes
She went from a girl to a woman so fast
But I'm still a boy filled with butterflies

She gave birth to a daughter
Much to my surprise
In my heart I'll always want her
And to see those beautiful eyes

Searching beyond my reflection
Through her eyes to her soul
Looking for a small section
She will let my heart control

I wonder every time I kiss her
Does she realize
I want to tell her that I love her
But I'm still a boy filled with butterflies

Someday I hope she'll discover
The words I write are not lies
And I wish that I could forever
Gaze into those beautiful eyes
