water to sky
by Charlie Morgan
as the water becomes sky
in more ways than the horizon,
so do i become more
with the universe,
yet, as i do, i am
less with you.
our collective consciousness
is two as one--pleasing none,
and shambled dreams
lie at our feet
out of either's reach.
we smile, winsomely, lovingly
trying to find the unfindable
and grasp at a snail's ooze
for a firm grip
that would last a lifetime.
balancing a lop-sided egg
is to travail the unknown,
and bear-hug the cold
until it drips a warm
coat of meaning.
